Meet Matt Mingus...
"Matthew had just turned 5 years old. He was looking forward to a fun-filled summer and eagerly anticipating going to school with his sister Kyra in September. On June 30th [2009] Matthew woke up with a cold. The cold turned into a sinus infection, and over time the sinus infection became so severe that Matthew would just stop breating in the middle of the night...on August 14th Matthew went in for a CT scan and biopsy. Within hours we were contacted by his pediatrician - the prognosis was cancer and Stanford was waiting for us." - Kat Mingus, Matthew's mother

In August 2009, Matt Mingus, just 5-years-old, was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and he and his family began the long battle with blood cancer. Now, more than 18 months since his diagnosis, Matt is in remission (now considered a "low risk patient") and has been named the Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area Chapter Boy of the Year.

Ten years ago, Matt would have a 3% chance of survival. Today, thanks to the funds raised for blood cancer research and treatment on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Matt's chances of survival is 78%. We continue to raise funds for the LLS mission, to support Matt and blood cancer patients and survivors like him, who need our continued support.

Meet Ezequial "Zeeky" Sanchez...
Ezequial "Zeeky" Sanchez was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia one month after his 2nd birthday. After various rounds of chemotherapy, physical therapy, blood transfusions, aspinal taps, and other medical procedures, Zeeky is now 7 years old, and in remission from this deadly disease.

At times, Zeeky's treatment has included a surgically-inserted central line in his chest (for treatments, blood withdrawals & transfusions). There were days when he would have to take up to twelve pills. Even throughout the worst time of his treatment, when his hair fell out, when he was hospitalized for extended periods of time, when he had to attend physical therapy to learn to walk again, Zeeky did not complain, get upset, or give up.

Zeeky's family and friends have sited their collective strength to come from Zeeky's own courage, strength, sense of humor, and beautiful smile. C.U.M.F.O.R.T.S. blanket is proud to honor Zeeky and his family with our fourth project, and we welcome him and his family, friends,  and fans to the geeTEAM and C.U.M.F.O.R.T.S. blanket families. Check out PROJECT ZEEKY to see our progress on Zeeky's blanket. Join geeTEAM by providing unconditional means for research, treatment and support, and make a donation at our fundraising page.
